Rinsing with cold water helps to close the cuticles of the hair shaft. When they’re closed, the individual hair lays flat which gives hair more shine and less frizz.

FGF5 is a naturally occurring protein in the scalp that plays a role in signalling the end of the hair growth phase. In a typical hair cycle, this is followed by a new growth phase. However, factors such as stress, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, aging, or genetics may contribute to elevated FGF5 activity, which has been associated with increased shedding and slower regrowth.
